Both born in the same litter, yet one will be registered as a Ragdoll and the other as a Cherubim.
The Cherubim breed is a compromise. We will no longer call the non pointed cats Ragdolls, but the only difference is a single color gene. They will still be the same breed in type and temperament.
The Mink and Solid lines originated in the 70's when the Ragdoll breed creator, Ann Baker, expanded her own lines. She registered them with the IRCA as Ragdolls and referred to the solids as her Miracle Ragdolls.
The LCWW currently accepts Mink and Sepia only. They compete against pointed Ragdolls as Cherubim Ragdolls.
The TICA Cherubim change will officially happen on May 1st, 2025. All kittens registered after that date will be assigned a breed by color. And all Ragdolls and Cherubim will be eligible to compete in championship class for titles.
Sepia is two copies of the Burmese point gene. There is a lot of body color and little contrast between points. Their eyes are usually green.
Pointed references two Siamese point genes, with a high contrast between points and body. They always have blue eyes.
